Application

To apply for the role you will need to complete:

Judgement Test: Please complete the online test as soon as possible  (within 24-48 hours is recommended), the closing  date for the tests is 23:59 Friday 28th January 2022.

The test is taken online and we will send you an  invitation, with full instructions on how to  complete the test.

You will need to submit an online application: 

Qualifications required: minimum 5 x GCSEs including English Language and Maths (or level 2 equivalent) at grade C and above (or the new grade 4 and above).

Previous Skills and Experience: Use this section to share any relevant work experience or skills you have acquired. This is for information purposes only.

Technical Questions: 250 word limit per question 

1. What are your reasons for applying for this  trainee trade development programme?

2. What challenges do you expect to face in  completing the two year programme?

3. Sometimes you will be asked to complete work  quickly and at short notice. How will you ensure  that you are able to meet multiple deadlines?

Please note: The technical questions will be assessed against Civil Service Success Profiles listed on the advert. 

As part of the online application process, you will also  be asked a number of diversity-related questions.

When you submit your online application, you  will receive an acknowledgement. The Recruitment Team will update you once the selection  panel have reviewed all the applications after the  closing date.

Applications will be reviewed by the panel to select  those that demonstrate the best fit with the responses  provided to the 3 technical questions. Please ensure you keep this in mind when writing your answers to the  questions.

Throughout the application process you will be notified at all stages whether you have been long or shortlisted. 

 If you are long listed you will need to take part in an online  video interview. This will consist of pre-recorded questions to assess strengths and behaviors, recorded responses to be provided by mid-February 2022 (an exact date will be confirmed and you will receive a minimum of 5 days notice).

TBC   Candidates who are judged to be a near miss at the virtual interview stage may be offered a post at the grade below the one advertised.   TBC

Shortlist

You will receive an acknowledgment of your application through the online portal. A panel will then assess your video interview responses to select those demonstrating the best fit for the assessment center. 


Assessment

  • If you are successful at this stage you will be shortlisted to attend an Assessment Centre comprising a  number of exercises which are expected to be held in March to May 2022 (exact date to be confirmed).
  • Full details of the assessment process will be made available to shortlisted applicants.

Offer

We expect to be able to notify you of the outcome of the process and make an offer to the successful candidates by the end of June 2022 .

  • Regardless of the outcome, we will notify you as soon as possible
  • Candidates that meet the minimum required standard but are not offered a Trainee post may be offered  another post within DIT at the same grade.
  • These roles will then start from September 2022, subject to all right to work and higher clearance outcomes.
